One Book Northland Announces 2019 Book Choice:

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone
by J.K. Rowling

2019 marks the 18th year that the One Book project has brought Northland communities together to celebrate reading. The One Book Northland committee is pleased to announce their selection of Harry Potter and Sorcerer’s Stone as the 2019 One Book Northland title. Last year the committee decided to choose the 2019 One Book Northland selection from the 2018 PBS The Great American Read Top 10 List. The Harry Potter series was number 3 on the list. The One Book Northland committee was excited to choose a title that had the ability to include readers of all ages.

This year the Duluth Public Library, along with the Cloquet Public Library, Superior Public Library, Two Harbors Public Library, Barnes & Noble, The Bookstore at Fitger’s, The Duluth Depot, the Lake Superior Railroad Museum, and Zenith Bookstore will all host events related to the book throughout the month of April. Some of the exciting events include Harry Potter Trivia, a Kid’s Book Group, Harry Potter movie showings for all, a Butter Beer making contest for Teens, and a Harry Potter Escape Room for families, just to name a few.

The One Book Northland committee includes representatives from the community, Duluth Public Library, Cloquet Public Library, Superior Public Library, Two Harbors Public Library, University of Minnesota Duluth, Arrowhead Reading Council, Barnes & Noble, Bookstore at Fitger’s, and Zenith Bookstore.
